Education, engagement & community empowerment for sustainable change

Home: Welcome

EA Sustainability

Hello I’m Emma Avery, the 'ea' of EA Sustainability. I am a sustainability entrepreneur and passionate about making sustainable change and empowering everyday householders to do the same.

In my experience, I have found when governments need to address our waste and recycling crisis they turn to generic recycling behaviours and collateral. I aim to fill the gap between knowledge and action by addressing topics beyond the kerbside bin.

I deliver my signature online and in-person educational workshops, teaching parents to choose and use reusable nappies/diapers for their babies.

A ‘bin nerd’ at heart, I have been described as a guru in all aspects of sustainability. With a degree in environmental management, I continue to communicate the message of sustainable living  through podcast interviews, public speaking, local radio shows, local media and guest blogging.

About Emma Avery

I’m a creative thinker when it comes to the show-stopper topic of ‘waste’. After 15+ years working in and with local and state government, watching the waste landscape grow with need, I put my skills to the test.

In 2019, I founded Cloth Baby - an online retail store for modern cloth baby nappies, aiming to communicate the complexity and variety of information out there. Lack of knowledge of modern cloth nappies meant a large waste contributor of new families would be disposable nappies (19 wheelie bins full that is), plus a massive cost for this single use plastic.

Beyond nappies, I put my skills and Environmental Management qualification into practice as a subject matter expert for other reusable items and communicating our recycling landscape to households.

I have been described as someone who can ‘take the technical and make it understandable’.  If you would like to work with me on your next project or program, please get in touch
